Effie Combs collection, 1922-1977.

This collection contains documents and correspondence from the collection of Effie Combs (1890-1973), a long-time resident of Little Rock and member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The Effie Combs Collection contains records relating to the Churchill Chapter and Little Rock Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, both located in Little Rock Arkansas. These records include day-to-day operations, convention materials, and special U.D.C. projects including the Confederate Home. A small number of the documents pertain to events after Effie Combs' death in 1973. In addition to Chapter records, the collection contains research and other materials related to Civil War and Southern History, largely compiled by Combs while serving as Chapter Historian.

Combs served as a member of the Churchill Chapter in Little Rock before becoming a charter member of the Little Rock Chapter in the 1930s. As a member, she served as Recording Secretary of the Churchill Chapter, as Historian, Registrar, and President of Little Rock Chapter, and as State Director of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Magazine.
